New Arrival

RozMay

The Senior Management team are pleased to announce the arrival of Roz May to ETS. Roz was recruited earlier this year as General Manager Designate.

Roz has a long established background in Training and Management working with Training Providers, Training and Enterprise Councils and Prosper/Business Link Organisations.

Prior to joining us Roz, more recently, has been working as a Private Training Consultant delivering Personal Development courses across the UK.

ETS Sales Team with their certificates

The ETS Sales and Retention team(s) recently attended a course for further developing their ‘sales skills’ on Tuesday 3rd April 2007.

All staff found the course very beneficial and are now looking forward to presenting ETS’s portfolio of services to its customers throughout Devon and Cornwall which should now focus more clearly on Employer’s specific training needs.

ETS now hopes to contract with 3 specific client groups in Apprenticeships. The (14-16) Young Apprentice, the (16-24) and (25+) Apprentice and the (16-24) and (25+) Advanced apprentice – more information on this from our recruitment department.


Connexions Learning Agreements

Success

ETS have started working closely with local Connexions Agencies who are referring employed individuals aged 16 and 17 to us for Key Skills, and/or Technical Certificates. Learners can receive a £250 incentive for participation (£50 start, £50 interim, £150 on achievement) and supportive employers can also receive £250 when their learner completes.

Learning Agreements provide an ideal opportunity for individuals who wish to up skill and encourage advancement for a full Apprenticeship in Business Administration, Customer Service or Information Technology at level 2. For further information, please contact our Sales Co-Ordinator.


YA – Young Apprenticeships 14-16yrs

YA Team

ETS were recently successful in gaining a contract for delivering Young Apprenticeship programmes in Business Administration.

Aimed at 14-16 year olds of good ability, the programme is for pupils who are attracted to a more ‘practical style’ of learning and who are keen to gain a taste of ‘real work’ in a supported way. The pupils are based in school and follow core National Curriculum subjects, but for two days a week (or equivalent) over a two year period they also work towards Nationally recognised qualifications in the workplace and spend 50 days in a fully supported work placement.

The ETS team responsible for delivering this programme, which rolls out in September 2007 consists of; Maria Wing – YA Co-Ordinator, Emma Ackrill - Schools Liaison Officer, Julie Spiller – Senior Training/Assessor and Vicky Hodges – Placement/Retention Officer.


ETS Inspection

ETS were recently audited by the Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) Team in Nov/Dec 2006 – The ALI is the major inspectorate for skills, workforce development and preparation for employment. Working with employers and Training Providers like ETS, they are a key part of the government drive to increase skills and productivity and help Adults and young people reach their full potential.

Grades are given for (A) Each area of learning inspected (B) Leadership and Management and (C) Overall effectiveness - ETS are pleased to announce their final achievement of a Grade 2/Good on all 3 of the above areas

Investors in People Flag

ETS is pleased to announce its re-recognition in January 2007 for achieving the Investors in People award for a 5th – 3 year term

Investors in People is the national standard which sets a level of good practice for ‘training and development’ of people to achieve business goals.

The standard provides a national framework for improving Business Performance and competitiveness, through a planned approach to both ‘setting and communicating’ Business Objectives, and in particular, developing ETS staff to meet them.


Centre of Vocational Excellence

ETS are pleased to announce their recent success in achieving the Centre of Vocational Excellence award in partnership with Exeter College. A presentation by the Skills Minister - Phil Hope took place, at ETS House, on the 5th October 2006. Lawrie Bennett - Group Chief Executive of Education + Training Skills received this award on behalf of the company

CoVE's focus on developing the skills and careers of those already in work, enhancing the employability of new entrants to the labour market and the employment prospects of those seeking work. They enable providers to develop, maintain and deliver high quality specialist provision across a range of new and traditional occupations. They are innovative in delivering training that develops both specialist and related general skills. - ETS specialises in Business Administration
